Planting Low Road Hedge

Planting Low Road Hedge

The upkeep and development of the Glebe Meadow is dependent on volunteers working in groups on planned days (great social events!), and others during the year.  Thanks to all the help we have received since we acquired the meadow in January 2012, we have planted 800 hedge plants along Harleston Road and Low Road to reinforce the existing hedges, we trim the hedges each year.  We continually maintain the vegetation on the banks of the Beck and the overhanging trees, and keep the area around the seat on ‘Church Bank’ cut back to enable the aconites and snowdrops to flourish.

Volunteers also manage the Jubilee Orchard and safeguard the 26 fruit trees by deer netting in winter, and mulching and pruning.  The community Bee Group manages the hives close to the orchard.  We welcome and appreciate all the help we receive, but if anyone would like to join us to help in any way to help maintain our wonderful meadow then please do get in touch – we’d love to see you!  Please contact Peter Grimble on 01379 852819.
